Day 12 - Cartagena and transfer to Quito

We packed our cases ready to move on later today.  We are leaving Cartagena at 3 pm so have the morning to look around a different area.

We said goodbye to the others on the tour who are either going home today or going to a beach resort north of Cartagena for a few days extension.

We then returned to the Getsemini area as we realised we did not see the best bits yesterday.  This is where the Afro Caribbean people live and it is very colourful.  All the paintings and street art and decorations are provided by the local people and not the local government.

We went to look at a small harbour near the Fortress and saw a Pelican, some egrets and a few other common birds.

We returned to the hotel and sat at the pool area until it was time to leave.  This is the end of our holiday in Colombia and it has been excellent.  We toured with 14 others and we all got on really well.  Colombia proved to be a beautiful country with an interesting history.  It is now safe to visit and we met some really nice people along the way.

Our flight to Quito (via Bogota) arrives at 10:30 pm so it will probably be near to midnight before we arrive at the hotel.
